Cheri Love’s lived experience as a biracial Asian American as well as her professional career path in the sciences, student affairs, and mental health profession brings a depth and breadth to her work that allows Cheri to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Some of her most rewarding work has been supporting students in understanding how social constructions of racism, classism, sexism, transphobia, sizeism, and other forms of oppression impact their mental health. Witnessing students’ visible relief when their experiences are named and validated has been extremely fulfilling to her. In particular, Cheri brings a wealth of knowledge on working with issues around diversity and intersectionality, student identity development, and sexual assault survivor support and advocacy. Cheri provides a safe, accepting environment through compassion and presence. Informed by neuroscience research, Cheri integrates Gestalt, Play and Mindfulness therapies to help students identify and heal the wounds that often underlie symptoms of anxiety, depression, and unhealthy relationships.
