Mission Statement

Cal Poly Counseling Services promotes the development of holistic student emotional health.  As mental health professionals, we serve the campus community through advocacy, consultation, and the provision of confidential, accessible services.  We strive to be responsive to the unique needs of students across identities and cultivate spaces of belonging, connection, and healing.

Message from Counseling Services

Counseling Services is staffed by licensed mental health professionals with graduate degrees in clinical and counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, professional counseling, and clinical social work.  We invest in creating a supportive and inclusive space so students across identities can feel they belong and have access to culturally responsive services.  We seek to build bridges to care for students who have been historically marginalized and leverage our system to be more equitable and responsive to the unique needs of students.

Students may come to counseling to talk about anxiety, academic performance, traumatic experiences, suicidal thoughts, substance use, relationship concerns, or anything else that might be going on for them.  Rather than advice-giving, we offer active listening and an expertise in human development, along with strategies to support your personal, social, and emotional growth.  Our services are free, confidential, and available to all currently enrolled students. We look forward to meeting you, and getting you connected to the care you need – whether here, in the community, or at home.

Call us today at 805-756-2511 to get started.
